Domestic and sexual violence are community concerns, and it will take a coordinated response to build a violence-free community. With this in mind, the Women’s Resource Center facilitates Coordinating Councils in each of the localities we serve – Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski and Radford.
These Coordinating Councils meet monthly and provide a forum for professionals and others concerned with the issues of sexual and domestic violence to network, learn from one another, problem solve, and develop strategies to improve our community response to sexual and domestic violence.
It is a forum for professionals in the field to coordinate services. Included in the Coordinating Councils are representatives from law enforcement, Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Offices, Social Services, area universities, hospitals, schools, and other concerned individuals.
Radford: Every 1st Wednesday of the month, 3:00pm-4:00pm at the Women’s Resource Center (1217 Grove Ave, Radford)
Pulaski: Every 2nd Tuesday, 12:00pm-1:00pm at Al’s on First in Pulaski (68 1st St NW, Pulaski)
Giles: Every 4th Thursday, 9:00am-10:00am, at Giles County Circuit Courtroom (120 N Main St, Pearisburg)
Floyd: Every 3rd Monday, 9:00am-10:00am, at Red Rooster Coffee, upstairs (823 Main St, Floyd)
Montgomery: Every 4th Wednesday, 3:00pm-4:00pm at Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society (155 Arrowhead Trail, in Christiansburg)
