A message from the Outreach Team
Hello!
Thank you for reading our newsletter. Our Communications Manager, Em puts a lot of work into making it informative while looking so nice! This April marked the 25th Sexual Assault Awareness Month. If you follow our social media, you’ll see the work that our outreach team, including Em, has put into our social media campaign to honor it! It was so great to get other members of our staff get involved for our reels and other posts. If you haven’t seen them yet, make sure to check out our Facebook or Instagram page! Outside of our social media campaign, Emil and I have been working hard to spread the word about SAAM out in our community. For the month of April, we spent a combined 45+ hours sharing our work to 503 people across 20 different events while managing our other responsibilities here at the WRC!
While each event holds an important place in our outreach work, I think my favorite was our Regional Coordinating Council. Emil did a wonderful job organizing a timeline activity surrounding the last 25 years of progress in the anti-sexual assault movement for attendees to complete. We’d love to see you at a coordinating council in the future! To learn more about them and how to join, check out our website.
I hope your April has been as productive as it was for our outreach team! We are so grateful to be a part of a community that asks us to come attend events or educate them on domestic and sexual violence. Learn more about how to invite us to speak to a group by visiting Trainings | Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley and checking out the list of topics we can present on.
Thanks for reading!
Christine Strouth – Outreach and Prevention Coordinator

Last chance to RSVP for the Spring Fundraiser

Please remember to RSVP
“Planting Peace & Growing Hope” is more than the name of our annual fundraiser—it reflects the mission and heart of the work we do at the Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley. Planting Peace represents the intentional, everyday efforts to create safe, supportive environments for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and abuse through compassion, advocacy, and education. Growing Hope speaks to the transformation that occurs when survivors are given the resources and support to heal, rebuild, and move forward, reminding us that with each step, a future filled with possibility becomes more real.
We hope you will commit to cultivating hope with us at our annual fundraising event “Planting Peace & Growing Hope” on Wednesday, May 20 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Hahn Horticulture Garden, Blacksburg, VA.
