WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS ADOPTS NEW
THREE-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN

RADFORD, Va, January 19, 2012 – The Board of Directors of The Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley has announced the adoption of a new strategic plan for 2012-2014.  Meg Stone, Immediate Past President of the Board and local attorney, says that a redesigned and updated strategic plan was necessary in order for the non-profit organization to be responsive to the needs of its clients and the needs of the community in a time of unprecedented demand for services and recession-driven resource challenges.

“Our plan is based on current realities, both internal and environmental.  It is realistic, issue-based, and achievable.  The year-long process of creating the plan has teased out and defined the most critical next steps for our organization. Every attempt has been made to study and plan for the challenges of the future,” said Ms. Stone.

The plan presents a newly crafted organizational vision and mission.  The vision of the organization is a community free of sexual and domestic violence.  The mission of the organization is to implement individual and social change for a violence-free community in the New River Valley region of Virginia, by providing programs and services to adults and children who have experienced sexual or domestic violence, and by providing education, training, and prevention programming to the public and to allied professionals.

The plan also delineates six primary goals for the coming three years, with detail on how these goals will be measured and achieved.  Goals focus on underserved populations, prevention expansion, shelter program adaptations, emergency planning, community investment, and communications.  A copy of the complete plan may be obtained by contacting The Women’s Resource Center of the New River Valley at 540-639-9592 or via email at director@wrcnrv.org.  The plan is also available for download here.
