Items needed for back to school

As schools around the area prepare to open their doors and begin the 2010 - 2011school year, many organizations and individuals ask the back-to-school needs of the children served by the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley. We attempt to take inventory of the items that we have in stock and evaluate the items that our children still need. The following is what they still need. Any way you are able to help is appreciated by those served by our organization. However, if you have donations to bring to the Women’s Resource Center that are not on this list, we still welcome your donation. Priority Items

  • Durable backpacks in various sizes and gender neutral colors (K-12 grade)
  • 1-inch 3 ring binders
  • 4 function calculators
  • 3 prong pocket folders
  • USB flash drives
  • Reams of copy paper
  • Boxes of tissues
  • Clorox-type wipes
  • Ziploc bags (all sizes)

Other Needed Items

  • Marbled composition books
  • Colored pencils (10-12 pack)
  • Bold and fine washable magic markers (“Classic Colors”)
  • Fiskar-type scissors (rounded and pointed)
  • Black and blue ball point pens
  • Mechanical pencils
  • Graph paper
  • Glue sticks
  • Pencil sharpeners that contain the shavings
  • Clear protractors and compasses
  • Heavy duty pocket folders
  • Highlighters
  • 3-ring nylon zippered pencil pouches (gender neutral colors)
  • Pencil boxes (gender neutral colors)
  • Subject dividers
  • Scientific calculators
  • Dry erase markers
  • Index cards
  • Sketch/drawing pad
  • Baby wipes
