Domestic Violence Program
The Women’s Resource Center offers temporary emergency housing for adults and children affected by domestic violence. In addition, families who leave the emergency shelter and desire a supportive living environment have the option of applying for transitional housing apartments before stepping out on their own. The transitional housing unit can house eight families in eight apartments in a community setting. At each location, staff members work with residents to identify obstacles, set goals and take steps to achieve their aspirations. Counseling, support groups, community resource assistance, legal advocacy and transportation also are offered.
Children who stay at the emergency or transitional shelters receive one-on-one attention with our staff. The WRC Children’s Program staff assesses the needs of each child and provides therapeutic, educational and recreational services during their stay.
